Legacy Paws Aftercare proudly partners with Dr. Rodger Cahill, a licensed veterinarian with more than 40 years in practice, for every in-home euthanasia appointment. Dr. Cahill is an independent veterinarian, not an employee of Legacy Paws, and he brings decades of calm, unhurried experience to one of the most tender moments a family will face.

Appointments are scheduled at a time that feels right for you. We never rush. Your family can take as long as you need before, during, and after.

What to Expect

  1. You reach out. Call or text 602.694.8565. We will listen, answer your questions, and help you decide whether it is time — with no pressure either way.
  2. We schedule the visit. In-home euthanasia is by appointment, and we do our best to accommodate your timing.
  3. The veterinarian arrives. Dr. Cahill comes to your home, explains each step, and gives your pet a sedative so they are relaxed and comfortable first.
  4. A peaceful passing. Once your pet is fully at ease, the final medication is given. It is quick and painless, and you can hold them the entire time.
  5. Aftercare, if you wish. If you have chosen a cremation package, our team gently takes your pet into our care from your home. Individual cremation returns their ashes to you in a standard urn with a fur clipping and memorial paw print.

With Communal Cremation

In-home euthanasia plus communal cremation. Ashes are not returned.

Only you and your veterinarian can make that decision, and we will never make it for you. Many families find it helpful to think about their pet's good days and hard days: whether they still enjoy food, greet you, and move without pain.
